Saturday, January 28, 6 p.m.-midnight: Karneval - German Mardi
Gras, Theme is "TV and Movies." IGHS Board member Brian Griesemer
and wife Pam will be honored Prinz and Prinzessin. Traditions of
the event include: Presentation of Karneval Royalty and Karneval
Ordens, the Grand March, music, dancing, raffle and prizes! Jay
Fox and the Bavarian Showtime Band will perform. The tradition of
Karneval in Indianapolis, goes back to the 1880's when German
societies held lavish masked balls. Athenaeum Karneval incorpo-
rates Karneval traditions of its 'German sister city Cologne/Köln
