A brief summary of information about your organization:
Svea Lodge #253-Indianapolis is one of 300 or so lodges of the Vasa Order of America, named after the Swedish King Gustav Vasa.
Vasa lodges are located in Sweden, Canada and the United States. Our mission is to promote, preserve and celebrate the
culture and heritage of the Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland), to interest
the younger generation in the aims of the Vasa Order, and to encourage good fellowship and good citizenship.
Svea Lodge #253 has nine regular meetings (with cultural program and refreshments) during the year, September through May, usually on
the first Sunday afternoon of the month. We also celebrate Midsommar in June, Kraftskiva (crayfish party)
in August, and Luciafest in December. We are affiliated with Dans Norden, a folk dance group, and we offer
Swedish language classes from time to time. We have 103 members and we welcome for membership
anyone who has an interest in the Nordic countries. Our annual dues are $25 per person. We meet at the
Latvian Community Center, 1008 West 64th St., Indianapolis, IN 46260.
